On Wednesday, November 11, at 7:00 PM, Lāčplēsis Day will be celebrated with a free live stream concert from the Great Hall of the MCCAC “Mazā Ģilde”. Singer Daumants Kalniņš and keyboardist Romāns Vendiņš will perform in the concert “Around a Hot Bulb”.

Especially for the Lāčplēsis Day concert, Daumants Kalniņš together with piano virtuoso Romāns Vendiņš have created a concert program featuring both melodies significant to the Latvian nation and compositions and arrangements created by Daumants Kalniņš. Regarding the upcoming event, the singer shares lines of poetry by Knuts Skujenieks, which will also be sung during the concert: “A butterfly glows and flutters around a hot bulb, I am not a butterfly, the night must be survived..”. These lines resonate both with the century-old battles for Latvia’s freedom and with today’s situation in the world – there are events that must be endured.

The concert “Around a Hot Bulb” is organized by the MCCAC “Mazā Ģilde” with the support of the Education, Culture and Sports Department of the Riga City Council.
