Chamber Music Series. Vocal Music Concert “Friends in Music”
On October 22 of this year, at 6:00 PM, the Culture and Folk Art Centre “Mazā Ģilde” will host an evocative concert of vocal and instrumental chamber music titled “Friends in Music” (*Draugi mūzikā*). The event brings together talented musicians and performers to present a program featuring works by some of Europe’s greatest classical composers, creating a warm, musically rich atmosphere for an autumn evening.
Conceived as a creative gathering of like-minded artists, “Friends in Music” will interweave gems of vocal music with solo piano pieces. At the heart of this musical event lies the artistic synergy between experienced pianist Inguna Puriņa—a faculty member at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA)—and her talented collaborators. Known for her sensitive and nuanced approach as a chamber music partner, Puriņa will be joined on stage by some of the most promising students from the JVLMA Vocal Department, as well as other young singers—Nadiia Kurochka, Mārtiņš Eliass, and Ivars Gāters—whose voices have already garnered acclaim in various local and international projects. Raimonds Celms, a popular actor from the Latvian National Theatre, will lend a unique atmosphere and dramatic dimension to the concert; his deep connection to music will help weave words and sound into a cohesive, unified narrative. Pianist Roberts Hansons will also perform.
The diverse and refined repertoire spans a broad musical timeline—taking the audience on a journey from the Baroque era to French Impressionism—and showcases both the maturity of the young singers’ voices and the profound depth of the piano music. The program features the melodic flow and dramatic power of Giovanni Bononcini and George Frideric Handel, the classical elegance and operatic highlights of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the delicate, evocative soundscapes of Claude Debussy, and masterpieces by other distinguished composers. This upcoming evening of chamber music promises to be a heartfelt and emotionally rich event, where the subtlety of the genre blends naturally with the stage energy and charisma of the young performers.
Tickets are available at the KTMC “Mazā ģilde”.
Ticket prices: 5.00 EUR and 2.00 EUR (for schoolchildren, students, and seniors). The event is organized by the Culture and Folk Art Centre “Mazā Ģilde,” with the support of Riga Municipality and in cooperation with the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music.
