On the First Sunday of Advent, the MCCAC “Mazā Ģilde” continues its multi-year tradition by offering a peaceful concert for a youth audience, this time via live stream. The artistic duo – Staņislavs Judins and Asnate Rancāne represent and will perform ethno-minimalist music – songs with authentic folk song melodies and ethnic motifs – innovatively, unusually, and with a rich timbre.

Staņislavs Judins is best known as a jazz and improvisational music double bassist who has participated in various genres and styles of music projects. Lately, he has shown an increasing interest in both composition and free improvisation. Original music compositions by him will also be performed in the Advent concert.

Meanwhile, the owner of the beautiful voice Asnate Rancāne is known as an ethnic music researcher, multi-instrumentalist, and leader of the now highly popular folk music group “Tautumeitas”.

Both artists have been making music together for several years. Through joint experiments, using unusual techniques and improvising, both musicians have found their own special sound and style, resulting in the album “Op. 2”.

The concert “Op. 2” is organized by the MCCAC “Mazā Ģilde” with the support of the Education, Culture and Sports Department of the Riga City Council.
