The joy of performing on the stage of Vecpilsētas teātris (“Old Town Theater”) brings together people of various ages and professions who, under the direction of Edīte Neimane, create, experiment, and improvise on eternal themes—faith, power, loneliness, hatred, and love—reflecting them in productions of works by both foreign and Latvian authors. The theater regularly participates in the Riga amateur theater festival “Rīga spēlē teātri” (Riga Plays Theater) and has been among the award winners for several years. The theater has successfully taken part in both local and international theater showcases and festivals in Bulgaria, Poland, Lithuania, and Austria.

The theater’s repertoire has featured productions of works by world-renowned authors and Latvian playwrights: Lelde Stumbre’s “Uz redzēšanos, spoki” (Goodbye, Ghosts), Valentīna Ozola’s “Bez piecām divpadsmit” (Five Minutes to Twelve), Charles Perrault’s “Cinderella”, Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard”, Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie”, William Shakespeare’s “King Lear”, Shelagh Delaney’s “A Taste of Honey”, Juozas Grušas’ “Love, Jazz and the Devil”, “Spēlēsim Brehtu” (Let’s Play Brecht based on Bertolt Brecht), Mārtiņš Zīverts’ “Kurpurrū”, “Zaļā krūze” (The Green Jug), and “Cilvēks grib dzīvot” (Man Wants to Live), Anšlavs Eglītis’ “Spēle ar brāliem” (Game with Brothers) and “Cilvēks grib spēlēt” (Man Wants to Play), Rūdolfs Blaumanis’ “Skroderdienas Silmačos” (Tailor Days at Silmači), Gunārs Priede’s “Četri balti krekli” (Four White Shirts), Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “B-612”, Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”, the productions “Ilūzijas” (Illusions) and “The Diary of Anne Frank”, Sirkku Peltola’s “The Human Being”, Inga Ābele’s “Sala” (The Island), Jean-Paul Sartre’s “No Exit” (Behind Closed Doors), Stefan Zweig’s “Confusion of Feelings”, Albert Camus’ “The Misunderstanding”, “Vārdu karnevāls vēstulēs” (Carnival of Words in Letters based on Jerome Kilty’s play Dear Liar), Christopher Durang’s “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike”, and Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House.
