Early Music Ensemble “LUDUS” specialises in the music of the Renaissance period. The ensemble performs on faithful reproductions of historical instruments, using period performance practices and authentic costumes to recreate the sound and atmosphere of the era.
The ensemble’s instruments include recorders of various sizes, violas da gamba, lute, Baroque guitar, archlute, fiddle (vielle), violin, and a variety of historical percussion instruments.
LUDUS regularly collaborates with the Latvian historical dance groups Ballare and Galms, as well as the early music vocal ensemble CANTO.
