Dance Ensemble “Daiļrade VP”
During the 2015/2016 season, the Dance Ensemble “Daiļrade”, based at the Riga Culture and Folk Arts Centre “Mazā Ģilde”, celebrated its 25th anniversary. The anniversary concert brought together a large number of both current and former dancers.
As interest in the ensemble continued to grow, a new company of experienced dancers was established under the name Dance Ensemble “Daiļrade VP”. The ensemble is led by Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer of the Latvian Song and Dance Festival, Iveta Pētersone-Lazdāne, with rehearsal director Paula Āboliņa and accompanist Jānis Lācis.
Dance Ensemble “Daiļrade VP” successfully competes with Latvia’s most established folk dance ensembles, consistently achieving outstanding results in dance competitions, national folk dance reviews, and major cultural events. The ensemble has also proudly represented Latvia at prestigious international festivals and performances.
The ensemble is the recipient of the Grand Prize in Group D at the XXVI Latvian Song and XVI Dance Festival, the highest honour awarded in Latvian stage folk dance.
Its repertoire includes both classic dances from Latvia’s “Golden Fund” and original choreographies created specifically for “Daiļrade”, many of which have received acclaim at both national and international performances. Dance Ensemble “Daiļrade VP” continues to develop creatively, providing experienced dancers with the opportunity to continue performing after their time in the top-level A Group ensemble.
The ensemble considers artistic excellence to be just as important as preserving and promoting Latvian cultural heritage. Through dance, it seeks to strengthen a sense of unity, national identity, and cultural awareness while fostering personal growth under the guidance of professional dance educators.
